Budweiser Shootout at Daytona

This year NASCAR celebrates the 31st Budweiser Shootout at Daytona. It will be run on Saturday night February 7, 2007 and can be seen on FOX.

This exhibition race is a non points event that has kicked off the NASCAR Sprint Cup season since 1979. Back then it was called the 'Bud Clash'. In 1998 the race became known as the 'Bud Shootout' and finally in 2001 the name was changed to what it is today.

This year the starting field for the Shootout will be set differently than in the past. The top six cars in points from last year for each manufacturer and one wild card selection will make up the field for this exhibition race. Since there are four manufacturers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, 28 cars will start this year's Shootout, seven from each make of car.
