Bowyer is a laid back guy from a small town in Kansas. He grew up racing motocross and was very successful. He then took up a new challenge racing dirt cars. Clint worked his way up through some of the NASCAR weekly touring series and eventually to an ARCA race in Nashville where he caught the eye of Richard Childress. Childress called Bowyer at the dealership where he was working. Clint is so laid back he thought his friends were playing a joke on him and almost didn't take the call. Good thing he did because Childress put him in the #21 Nationwide car in 2004 splitting time with Kevin Harvick. He drove the #2 RCR Nationwide car full time in 2005 and moved up to the Cup Series in 2006. His first victory in the Cup Series came on September 16, 2007 at the Sylvania 300 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway after starting from the pole and leading 222 of 300 laps.
Clint had a wild ride at the 2007 Daytona 500. He crossed the finish line upside down and on fire but still managed to finish 18th. Clint climbed from the burning wrecked car and calmly tossed his gloves in the car....this guy is really laid back!
